Centro Cultural Municipal

Centro Cultural Municipal Álvaro Arzú Irigoyen

The construction of this emblematic building of the Historic Downtown of Guatemala City began on September 14, 1938. It was designed by engineers Rafael Pérez de León and Enrique Riera, who also participated in the design and construction of the National Palace of Culture, hence their architectural similarities, during the government of General Jorge Ubico Castañeda. In 1940, and to celebrate the then president Ubico, the first phase was inaugurated and five years later the next two were completed. Its most important visual appeal is the arch that joins its two structures through the 12th street of zone 1.

Address: 7a. avenue 11-67, zone 1.
