The Mayan cosmovision, with its healing and its political demands, is present in Chavajay´s work, often associated with materials and elements like earth and corn. A thread running through his work is language and the violence it contains due to the historical actions of Castilianization, which have been naturalized in contexts like Guatemala, but which remain and are part of the larger colonial wound inflicted by racist and segregating Western reason.
